Hands down the best omakase experience I’ve had in Charleston — this is Sushi | Bar.

@sushibarrestaurants, Charleston’s newest omakase experience, offers an immersive 17-course tasting menu — a foodie’s paradise. Chef Max and Chef @islandcheflucas, alongside the talented @chefanthony_m, Director of Culinary Development & Strategy, curated an indulgent menu layered with surprising flavors and beautifully executed details.

My favorite bites?
🍣 Ora King | Applewood cold-smoked and topped with Granny Smith apple and daikon radish, finished with bourbon barrel smoked salt
🍣 Hamachi | Koji-fermented jalapeño purée, micro cilantro, compressed pineapple, and garnished with black garlic
🍣 Otoro | Torched and finished with fresh wasabi + golden Osetra caviar

The neighborhood spot from Chef @nikko_cagalanan and @paulaannekramer — let’s lunch at @bareocharleston!

Chef @nikko_cagalanan wears many different hats. You may know him as a @foodnetwork Chopped champion, a @beardfoundation Emerging Chef finalist, or perhaps the chef behind Charleston standout @kulturacharleston. While all of these hats fit, it’s time to add mastermind chef at Bareo, too.

Bareo, from the Tagalog for “neighborhood”, brings bold Filipino and Japanese flavors together, serving up one of the best dumplings I’ve had in Charleston. Since opening their doors in February, it’s quickly gained popularity and for good reason. Take a peek at my favorites below and don’t forget to make a reservation via @resy to check it out!

What is Watsu you ask? Watsu is a unique aquatic therapy performed in a warm pool, blending massage, shiatsu, and QiGong. The therapist gently stretches, massages, and moves you through the water, creating a sensation similar to floating in a tank—with the added benefit of therapeutic touch. Fun fact — @namaste_with_natalie, owner of @chsmobilemassage, is the ONLY certified Watsu therapist in South Carolina!

A bite you must try at @redsicehouse? Tuna Nachos. Raw sushi-grade tuna, chopped jalapeños, cilantro and guacamole over crisp wonton chips with sriracha mayo and yum yum sauce — say less. I’m in.
